Bergamot is a citrus fruit grown mainly in Calabria (southern Italy). Its essential oil is cold-pressed from the peel and gives a lemony, slightly floral note with hints of lavender and jasmine. The central ingredient of the classic eau de Cologne since the 18th century, bergamot is today one of the most used opening notes in perfumery.
